Spend It Good! Lets talk New York Shopping Trips!

Spring is finally here! With Easter, Victoria Day, and even regular weekends off are coming up; it's time for the Weekend Shopping Trips in NYC!

I used to be in NYC so much,I have a shopping schedule. If you are a true shopper and like to spend it good, here is my guide to the ultimate NYC shopping trip!

4 - Day Trip, Driving: Toronto to New York City

• Leave on a Thursday night approximately 1am,
• Try to get to the Buffalo or Fort Erie Border by 2am (don't speed)
• Don’t forget to print a Google map of the trip (if it's your 1st trip)
• Bring lots of music, Vitamin Water, a pillow, eye mask
• The trip is about 10 hrs Toronto to the first stop, Woodbury Common Outlet Mall, if you are at the border at 2am, you will drive for about 6.5 hours; add 1 hour for gas stops etc
• Exit 131 and you arrive at Woodbury Common, you can have breakfast, grab your Starbucks, and start shopping!
• This Outlet Mall has amazing deals, and mostly Luxury Goods Factory Stores like Gucci, Fendi, and Balenciaga. They also have great deals at Department store Outlets like Sak’s Off 5th, and Neiman Marcus Last Call.

Personally, I think this is the Mecca of outlet malls that I have been to. If you are the type that likes a road trip, this is one trip that you want to organize with your friends this spring/summer!

Some of the great deals that I got there and heard about:

  • Uggs for $100

  • Juicy Couture leather jacket(original $600) for $150

  • Fendi Baguettes that retailed at Holt's for $1100 and up for $500
My advice is always to have a budget for the outlet that is separate from your budget for shopping in New York city.

From Woodbury Common Outlets, let’s go to New York City!
The stores open at 10am, so I’m usually done at Woodbury by 12:30 - 1 pm.Then we head in to New York City which is about another 1.5 hours drive. Just in time for an early check-in.

I love staying in Brooklyn at the Marriott because it’s in the heart of Brooklyn, and I have some favorite “Fly Girl” Shops like Dr Jays Ladies, Forever 21 (that's the only location that I shop at), and my favorite dessert, Juniors Cheesecake.

After a long day of shopping, I treat myself to a slice of Junior's Cheesecake.
When you stay at the Marriott, you can walk around downtown Brooklyn, or take a walk across the Bridge to Manhattan. Easy access while your car is secure at the hotel.

Day 2 Saturday Morning: Take Manhattan!

  • 10am be at the door of Century 21

  • give your self 2 hours in the main store and the shoe section (outside entrance)

  • You will not enjoy your experience unless you get there early! It gets too crowded!

  • If you are patient, you will find great deals on accessories, designer jeans, and even couture gowns!
They have opened a few more locations now, so I will let you know how they are when I blog from there next month.

My favorite location is 22 Cortlandt St. Have Fun!

Saturday 1:00pm

Are you ready to walk? Hopefully you didn't spend it too good at Century 21! Let’s jump on the train for one stop and go to Canal St! I love all the pashminas, and gift items that you can get there. Spend about an hour, then head north on Broadway.

Saturday 2:30pm

Oh How I love New York!

At Broadway and Grand take a left, walk to Greene St and make a right. There are boutiques galore! Spring St and Broome St too. Nicole Miller, PHI, Long champ, La Perla, Missoni, and more.

Saturday 4:00pm

You can also take Broadway North from Canal and hit stores like Scoop, Top Shop, Uniqlo, Bloomingdale's and Pearl River Mart for gifts. Michael k, Steven by Steve Madden, and Steve Madden stores are across from each other, and they always have great deals!

Atrium - a celebrity shopping spot, and Zigi Shoes - (they supply R2W in Toronto).

After you pass Houston, Gonzalez y Gonzalez is great Mexican food.

Day 3 Sunday: Boutiques on 5th Ave

Wake up and take a walk over to the Brooklyn Diner
Brooklyn Diner‎
515 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217-1913, United States
(718) 243-9172‎

When you get to 57th and 5th, open your eyes and take it all in! Get your Gossip Girl on at the following shops:

Louis Vuitton
Bergdorf Goodman (who ships to Canada now)
YSL
Gucci
Henri Bendel
Fendi
Pucci

I go to 5th ave to get my Splurge item!

Day 4: Monday Last Day!

We check out and the goal is to leave NYC by 1pm. The first stop is the wholesalers that are around 34th and Broadway. Many of these stores don't ask for a vendor permit. You can buy great costume jewellery in large quantities for resale or for yourself at really good prices.

So get your last minute items, and hit the road! My trip is planned for July so I will update this story with pictures when I come back!
